Faith in Fiordland

Step back in time, to an era where elegance was common, adventure was the basis of the daily news, and new frontiers captured the heart of nations. We invite you to join us aboard the Faith, a 19.7m motor sailer built from teak, oak and mahogany, moored at the historic wharf in Lake Te Anau, Fiordland. This is one of the last vessels designed by the great Alfred Mylne of Glasgow, built in 1935.

Borland Road to Monowai Hut Track

The tramping track from Borland Road to Monowai Hut leads from Borland Saddle to a hut at the northern end of Lake Monowai in Fiordland National Park.

Rakatu Wetlands

Adjacent to the Lower Waiau River, the Rakatu Wetlands are accessible from the Southern Scenic Route (Clifden-Blackmount Road). They are 17km from Manapouri village and 7km downstream of the Manapouri Lake Control Structure.

Rakatu Wetlands is a 278 ha property located on the flood plain of the Lower Waiau River. Fiordland National Park forms the western backdrop to the property.

Horse Riding

Westray Adventures offer horse rides that can last up to 2.5 hours including full safety training. Shorter rides are available by negotiation. We can cater for individuals or groups up to 10 people with horses to suit all levels of riders confidence. Beginners and people with no previous experience are welcome - our horses are calm and will look after you.

We provide you with safety equipment and full training to ensure you are comfortable with riding a horse.

Rudyard Kipling had previously called it the eighth Wonder of the World. If you come to Te Anau you really must take the journey to Milford Sound.
